Moving Week

We are in the midst of moving this week. We should hopefully be totally moved in by Saturday night, and then we will be getting internet at our new house on the 27th. So in case I am absent until then, you know my excuse. ;)

RIP Dillinger

Summer 2003 - Thanksgiving 2009

David and I got Dillinger just after we were married. He first lived with Dave's parents, and then we had him for 2 years. When we moved to Australia, Dilly went to live with my parents, and spent the rest of his life there. Unfortunately, last weekend he was hit by a car, and passed away. He will be dearly missed.

As a kitten at my inlaws' house.

At our first apartment (with a beardless Dave!).

One year old.

Dave took Dillinger for a swim at the cottage, and he was NOT impressed. I love this photo, it's one of my favourites ever. Dilly did like water though, he always had to be there if someone was taking a bath or shower, and even ventured into the lake a few times on his own!

He loved to sleep in the sink at our second apartment, it was right over the heater and got really warm in the winter.

Meeting Judith when we came back to Canada (she was 3 months).

At the cottage when Judith was 20 months old.

My kitty kitty.

Gideon and Dilly this past summer.

The last ever photo of Dillinger, taken by my mom a few weeks ago.

Here is a clip of the few videos I have of Dilly. It's cute to see how little Judith was in a couple of them (she was 20 months), and Jake too (my parents' dog who passed away last winter).

Camping in Tobermory

I still have lots of photos to post from our trip to Ontario this past August!

Our campsite.

The kids LOVED camping!

Gideon had a blast wandering around and trying to run away. Needless to say, I didn't get to sit down much.

The second day we were in Tobermory was our 6th wedding anniversary. We went into town and picked up food at the grocery store for lunch, then checked out the shops, and found us some sweets!

Then we went to the beach for the afternoon!

The water was SO warm, and stayed shallow for quite a ways out. It was perfect for little kids!

Gideon was excited about all of the sand to play in!

Then he chased his shadow for a while. It was adorable, but really tiring for me!

Back at the campsite.

My favourite was when the kids just played in the car for a while. They were actually contained! I got to sit down for a while!

Are you trying to tell us something?

She's 3 going on 16. She LOVED to pretend she was driving.

Gideon preferred to put rocks in the wheels...

Our romantic anniversary dinner: fresh local whitefish and chips, on a bench by the lake.

Beavertails for dessert!

We watched the ferry come in.

The sunset was lovely.

We watched a movie before bed. Yeah, we were totally roughing it.

The kids slept SO well while camping!

Judith woke up every morning to the sound of the ferry's horn, and she'd happily report "That's my boat!"

Camping was definitely one of our favourite parts of the whole trip. We all had a great time and enjoyed it so much.

Getting Back to Being Thankful

This past weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada, and I realized that I haven't done a "1000 Gifts" post in a while. So let's do that.

101 - Getting the keys to our new house tonight, yay!

102 - Getting a Tim Horton's gift card and 2 Goodmama diapers in the mail yesterday, which was a much-needed ray of sunshine during a rough day.

103 - Fun Dip for the kids from Grandma.

104 - A nice little stress-free Thanksgiving dinner with just our little family.

105 - A little boy who has been a joyful trooper despite being sick.

106 - A little girl who is suddenly looking so grown up.

107 - Getting to sleep in a lot lately.

108 - The promise of warmer weather for this weekend when we move.

109 - How Gideon likes to "steal" mugs and canisters of tea and hide away in our bedroom trying to figure out how this works.

110 - Judith deeming herself "Judith, The Pretty."

111 - Home made lemonade.

112 - The sound effects Gideon makes when he plays with trains and cars.

113 - Living with the sweetest little ballerina.

114 - Goodmamas and wool pants.

115 - A very active little baby in my tummy.

116 - 32 weeks of pregnancy!

117 - A husband who makes the best stove-top popcorn and home made chocolate almond milk.

118 - Having 4 pillows to sleep with at night.

119 - A husband who has been doing the grocery shopping for the last month.

120 - Knowing that we will not be living in this clutter and mess much longer.

Manitoulin Island

Judith and I played "cats" when we found cat tails at one of the stops along our 7.5 hour road trip. The kids did SO well, they are such great travelers!

Judith LOVED our motel room!

Rain rain go away, Judith and Gideon would like to play!

Watching a movie before bed. I always remember loving watching movies when I was on a trip with my family as a kid.

We spent a lot of time just hanging out in my grandparents' motel room. They got to play with the kids and it was a lot of fun. Especially playing hide and seek. Even Gideon would cover his eyes with his fists, "count" to 10, say "Ready or not, here I come!" and then go and find Judith and excitedly scream "Found you!" It was seriously the cutest thing ever. I wish I got it on video.

Fun Dip! Best treat/entertainment for the money. There were 2 sticks, it took them days to eat it all, and they shared wonderfully!

Our family at my cousin's wedding.

It was Gideon's first wedding.

Judith insisted that she did NOT want to get married, lol.

Judith found "sea shells!"

Gideon enjoyed lots of attention from the little girls!

Our motel was right on the shore of Lake Huron. It was beautiful.

Judith was jumping over the waves that came in. You can tell she takes gymnastics.

There were some waves that night that were almost surf-able. The sound was so soothing to my soul. I need to live by the ocean again!

There was a playground right at the shore.

Saying goodbye to my parents and grandparents.

We took the Chi-Cheemaun ferry to Tobermory.

How Gideon (and Dave) spent the entire boat ride.

Judith was SO excited for her BIG BOAT!

She made me so nervous!

Once the initial excitement wore off, we ended up sitting on that bench for about an hour while Judith cried on to my shoulder about having to leave Grandma.
